Get Started with AI Auto Reply for Facebook

Complete your setup in 2 minutes and start generating AI replies on Meta Business Suite.

Open Extension Settings

Look for the AI Auto Reply extension icon icon in your Chrome toolbar (top-right corner). Click it to open the extension popup, then click the Open Settings button inside.

If you don't see the icon, click the puzzle piece ⊞ menu in Chrome to find AI Auto Reply for Facebook and pin it to your toolbar for easy access.

Get Your API Key

The extension works with three AI providers. Choose the one you want to use and follow the instructions to generate your API key. If you're unsure, start with OpenAI.

OpenAI powers models like GPT-4o and GPT-5. Widely used, well-documented, and has a straightforward free trial.

  1. Go to platform.openai.com/api-keys and sign in (or create a free account).
  2. Click Create new secret key.
  3. Give it a name — for example, "AI Auto Reply" — then click Create secret key.
  4. Copy the key immediately. You will not be able to see it again after closing the dialog.
  5. Keep this page open and proceed to Step 3.

OpenAI requires billing information to use the API beyond the free trial. You pay only for your usage — there is no additional charge from this extension.

Anthropic powers Claude models, known for strong reasoning and nuanced writing.

  1. Go to console.anthropic.com/settings/keys and sign in (or create an account).
  2. Click Create Key.
  3. Give it a name, then copy the generated key.
  4. Keep this page open and proceed to Step 3.

Google powers Gemini models. Google AI Studio offers a free tier with no billing required to get started.

  1. Go to aistudio.google.com/app/apikey and sign in with your Google account.
  2. Click Create API key.
  3. Select a project (or create one) and confirm.
  4. Copy the generated key.
  5. Keep this page open and proceed to Step 3.

Paste Your Key in Settings

Go back to the extension Settings page you opened in Step 1. In the API Connection tab, select your chosen provider. Paste your API key into the key field and click Save Key.

Then click Test Connection to confirm everything is working. You should see a green confirmation message.

Start Using the Extension

Your setup is complete. Head to Meta Business Suite and open your inbox. On any comment, you'll see an AI reply button. Click it to generate a contextual reply instantly.

You can return to the Settings page at any time to switch providers, update your API key, or customize your AI prompt.

Common Questions

Double-check that you copied the full API key with no extra spaces. Make sure your account on the provider's platform has billing set up or is within the free tier limits. If the problem persists, visit our Help & FAQ page.

Yes. Open the extension Settings at any time, go to the API Connection tab, and set any configured provider as your active one. You can have keys saved for multiple providers simultaneously.
Your API key is stored locally using Chrome's built-in encrypted storage (chrome.storage.sync). It is never sent to our servers. All AI requests go directly from your browser to the AI provider's API.
